Lighting Up with the Flintstones

This seems really disturbing by today’s standards. Fred and Barney taking a Winston break? Smoking cigarettes behind the shed while their wives did all the yard work? A flashing neon sign that can be seen by all of Bedrock?

What’s next? Yabba-dabba-doobies for medicinal purposes (of course)? Hey, they don’t call it the stone age for nothing.

in 1961, The Flintstones were a prime time cartoon for grown-ups. It’s just like The Simpsons was to the 80′s and American Dad is today. They eventually got passed on to the kids after the subject matter was no longer considered taboo.

Still, this ad was over the top and quickly got pounded into rubble.
